What it is

TCVN 5575, “Kết cấu thép — Tiêu chuẩn thiết kế” (Steel structures — design standard), is Vietnam's national steel design standard, developed from the Russian code lineage (SNiP / SP) and used with the TCVN 2737 loading standard.

Design method

Limit-state design: the design strength f is the characteristic strength divided by the material safety factor γM, applied with a working-condition factor γc that depends on the member type.

Key checks

• Section strength in tension / compression / flexure against f·γc
• Member stability in compression — buckling coefficient φ by slenderness
• Beam flexural stability (φb) and combined actions (axial + bending)
